Our Story
Hangry Joe's was born in 2018 when founder Joe Williams — a self-described "heat junkie" and lifelong North Carolina native — returned from a life-changing trip to Nashville with one burning question: why doesn't High Point have hot chicken like this?
After months of recipe testing, spice blending, and more than a few blistered taste buds, Hangry Joe's opened its doors on N Main St with a simple promise — real heat, real flavor, real fast. The line on opening day wrapped around the block. Six years later, hangry joe's hot chicken has become a staple of the High Point food scene, beloved for its hand-breaded Nashville-style chicken and unapologetic love of spice.
Every batch of spice paste is made in-house daily. No shortcuts, no compromise — just bold, craveable flavor at every heat level.

2018
Hangry Joe's opens its doors at 1915 N Main St, High Point. Opening day sells out within two hours. Word spreads fast — this hot chicken is the real thing.
2019
Named "Best New Restaurant" by High Point Food Scene. Introduces the legendary 8-level heat scale — from "Cluckin' Cool" to "Inferno Joe." Catering program launches to overwhelming demand.
2020
Amid global challenges, Hangry Joe's pivots to a full online ordering and contactless pickup model. Community loyalty carries us through — and chicken sales actually increase by 40%.
2022
Hangry Joe's hot chicken is featured in regional food publications and gains a dedicated following across the Carolinas. Menu expands to include tenders, sliders, loaded fries, and house-made sauces.
2024
